Herbs - Coriander

Coriander

This delightful fragrent herb is a must for Asian curries and stir-frys. It's leaves are favored however its stems, roots and seeds are all edible and each have their place in cooking. It grows well in warm conditions.

But, oh dear she is a saucy one, you see.....

....coriander bolts, it's what she does. A little bit of warm sunshine sets her off and all her energy switches from creating leaves to creating flowers. Oh, she is a show off. But don't despair and pull her out by the roots. Let her do her thing , she loves to flower - then those flowers will turn to seed. Collect the seed and save some for sowing next season and some for cooking. Place some seeds in a coffee grinder to make corriander powder.

Try sowing some seed in the part shade, this may keep her from bolting so quickly.

Corriander seeds - some for cooking and some for saving to plant next Autumn
